✦ Synopsis

We show how to construct shift operator matrices (SOM's), the eigenvalues of which yield the partition function for a system of simple, indistinguishable, nearest-neighbor-interacting particles distributed on planar M x N, hexagonal-cell lattice spaces. By an appropriate transformation, the SOM for an M x zc planar lattice (having two free edges) is mapped into the SOM for a cylindrical lattice (having no free edges).
