β¦ Synopsis
Plug's new CHP system
New York-based Plug Power has introduced the GenSysβ’5C, its new combined heat and power (CHP) fuel cell system, with the unit installed and operating at the Town Hall in Babylon, NY where it provides supplemental heat and electricity to the facility.
The GenSys5C system can generate 5 kW of electricity and 9 kW of heat and is available immediately, with an expected order-to-delivery lead-time of 8-10 weeks. The installation was carried out on behalf of the Long Island Power Authority, which has been working with Plug Power for several years.
The system was evaluated and certified by CSA International, and is certified as compliant with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard for fuel cell power plants. The power conversion system was evaluated by Underwriters Laboratories, and complies with the standard for inverters, converters and controllers for use in independent power systems. The system also conforms to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) standards for electromagnetic compliance.
