The expression of average shell-side mass transfer coefficient (MTC) in hollow fiber modules is theoretically deduced in this paper. This expression considers the effects of both the polydispersity of hollow fiber outer radii and the randomicity of hollow fiber distribution on the shell-side mass tr

Experimental studies done previously in our group showed a great potential of hollow fiber modules as extraction apparatus, especially in environmental engineering, where the main advantage of the technique, i.e. the possibility to concentrate metallic species in a cycle of extraction and stripping
An analysis of the effects of the fiber random packing on the mass transfer coefficient for the parallel flow module is presented in this work. According to the model description, the fiber random arrangement caused a slight decrease (9-16%) on the shell side mass transfer coefficient. The ratio bet
