β¦ Synopsis
The experimental energies and widths of the resonances in rgF are compared with those of a shell-model calculation. This model predicts positive parity 2plh states that are formed by treating the target '*O as the core. It is assumed that these doorway states fragment via couplings with more complex configurations. Except for the 840-keV l/2+ resonance, each positive parity level with strong proton width observed experimentally up to 3.2 MeV can be associated with a doorway state. Both the data and the model indicate that the S/2+ level observed at 2.768 MeV may be identified as the analog of the 3.16-MeV level in IsO; however, isobaric spin impurities are present.
