โœฆ Synopsis

GUTS AND GLORY

Sam Taggart is a cynical, hard-drinking vet living in the tropical island of Makura, surrounded by beautiful beachesโ€ฆand even more beautiful women. Heโ€™s a shark hunter: armed with a spear gun and nerves of steel, he puts his life on the line every day, tracking down the deadly creatures for resort chefs, whose hungry guests are willing to pay top dollar for shark meat.

Everything changes for Taggart when he meets Bob Jones, who offers him a cool two million bucks for fighting two sharks. The only catch? Taggart has to fight them in a swimming pool, on live TV. For a pro like Taggart, thatโ€™s no problemโ€ฆuntil the islandโ€™s corrupt dictator and police chief get involved. After some last-minute changes to the schedule stack the deck against him, Taggart the predator is now the prey โ€” and if he doesnโ€™t watch out, heโ€™s going to be fish food!

Called "the trash fiction equivalent of The Old Man and the Sea" by critic Joe Kenney, Shark Fighter is a wild, exciting, and sexy novel from underground favorite Len Levinson, described as a โ€œtrash geniusโ€ by Paperback Fanatic magazine. Destroyer Books is thrilled to publish a new edition of this beloved cult classic, featuring an all-new afterword from the author. Back in print after 40 years, Shark Fighter lives again!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Len Levinson is the author of 83 novels written under 22 pseudonyms, published originally by Bantam, Dell, Fawcett, Harper, Jove, Charter Diamond, Zebra, Belmont-Tower, and Signet, among others, and which have sold an estimated 2.5 million copies. Born in 1935 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he served on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957, graduated from Michigan State University (class of 1961), and relocated to New York City where he worked in advertising and public relations for ten years before becoming a full-time writer of novels. He left NYC in 2003, and now resides in rural Illinois, surrounded by the corn and soybean fields of the Great American Prairie. He has married twice, but presently lives alone with his MacBook Pro and a library of approximately three thousand books, which he studies assiduously in his never-ending effort to understand the meaning of life itself. He has three novels and one non-fiction book in the pipeline.
