Abstract
A novel shaped‐reflector antenna synthesis technique based on the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is presented. The reflector surface is expanded using the modified Jacobi polynomials, and the expansion coefficients and other antenna parameters compose a solution space to be explored by PSO in a global stochastic evolutionary manner. The conventional weighted aggregation (CWA) method is utilized when multiple objectives are considered. The validity of this technique is verified by an example application, a shaped‐reflector antenna for simultaneous reception from multiple satellites for direct‐broadcast satellite (DBS) services. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
