โฆ Synopsis
A superposition integral equation for problems involving boundary layer flow with chemical reaction on external surfaces of the bluff type was developed. The equation is expressed in terms of local mass transfer coefficient and of a delay factor for a surface with step change in concentration. Some examples are given to illustrate the present technique. The accuracy and range of validity of the new solution are investigated by comparison with the equation developed by Acrivos and Chambk [20]. Local external effectiveness factor are computed for spheres, circular and elliptical cylinders. It is shown that for a first-order irreversible surface reaction the external effectiveness factor integrated over the forward flow area is greatest for sphere.
