✦ Synopsis

WAIS subtest scores of 400 endogenous mental retardates were examined for sex differences, and these were compared with the sex differences reported for the WAIS standardization sample. Although differences obtained between the two samples on Arithmetic, Digit Symbol and Block Design, the latter is probably the only real difference between the two samples. The differences on Arithmetic and Digit Symbol appear to be artifacts of the limited variance in the retardates' scores on these two subtests.
