Even after shifting the Durasleeve 100 times, shifting force with this seal was up to 80% less than with conventional PEEK seals. Average shifting force to open or close is less than 500 lb. Conventional sliding sleeves require more than 1500 lb to open or close. The improved system also provides a

β¦ Synopsis
Dynamic sealing
Economos UK to meet the needs of especially strenuous dynamic conditions.
The Seal-Jet square section O-ring was design engineered for increased efficiency in rod and piston applications where conventional O-rings can be unsuitable. Evolved from its existing and successful elastomeric square section O-ring, this latest version, the H-Ecopur square section O-ring --code named the R-14 --provides even greater stability under extreme pressure conditions.
The new R-14 is stable to 400 bar in dynamic conditions with industry standard extrusion gaps. Conventional O-rings would need an anti-extrusion ring in applications where pressures exceed 100 bar. Economos is able to further modify the R-14 seal, upon request, to resist even greater pressures.
Friction has also been reduced in the R-14 by the application of interior and exterior chamfered diameter edges. As a result, it does not roll or twist, but instead has less dynamic back-lash than a conventional O-ring at the same extrusion gap. The good sliding properties of H-Ecopur and the use of lead-ins on the seal's dynamic surface have also contributed to its reduced frictional properties. The combination of these design features makes the R-14 considerably more stable under varying or higher pressure conditions.
