QUIPMENT NEWS so contact between thrust washers and the thrust face of the carbon bearings occurs only during start-up and upset condition. This results in an average bearing life of over one year which has been achieved in over 70 000 units in operation. Recently this range of pumps was extended with the addition of 4-pole motor units up to 132 kW This means standard pumps are available covering capacities up to 750 m3 at differential heads up to 145 m.
