✦ Synopsis
The responsivity of the serotonergic system to 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) administration was investigated in seven patients with panic disorder and seven healthy controls. Using cortisol and fl-endorphin as hormonal probes, no evidence was obtained for a dysfunction of the serotonin system in patients. Behaviorally, controls responded differently from patients, in that controls seemed to be more sensitive to 5-HTP. None of the subjects reported an increase in anxiety.

This study investigated beat-to-beat QT variability in patients with panic disorder before and after treatment with nortriptyline (n = 13) and paroxetine (n = 16), using an automated algorithm to compute QT intervals. An increase in QT variability appears to be associated with symptomatic patients w
## Abstract Accumulating evidence from animal studies suggests that the corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH) and arginine vasopressin (AVP) neuropeptide systems, contribute to anxiety behavior. To investigate whether polymorphisms in the genes regulating these two systems may alter susceptibility
