✦ Synopsis

We have analyzed the effect of a laser on the sequential tunneling current through a (\mathrm{GaAs} / \mathrm{AlGaAs}) double barrier. We consider a canonical transformation and time dependent perturbation theory to calculate the transmission coefficient and the current density assisted by photons. The effect of the light on both tunneling processes : coherent and sequential is discussed for different samples and light frequencies.
