The ratio of A␤ 42/A␤ 40 in the RIPA-soluble fraction was 0.073, which was similar to the ratio calculated directly (A␤ 40, 15.48 g/ml; A␤ 42, 1.08 g/ml) using anti-A␤ 40 and anti-A␤ 42 (Quality Controlled Biochemicals, Inc.) according to the method (8).

IP-MS offers a very convenient way to determine the ratio of A␤ 42/A␤ 40 and other A␤ peptide species in biological samples and should be a powerful and useful method for research into the pathogenesis of AD.
