The spherical siloxanes (HSiO&, have been separated by sizeexclusion chromatography, a technique that allows for preparative separations. These molecules are ideal test-cases for the hard-sphere solute size-exclusion retention theory because of their nearly identical chemical behaviour and their nearly ideal spherical structure.
