โฆ Synopsis
Capillary electrophoresis in the micellar mode offers a further analytical method to identify the sesquiterpene lactones in Arnicae flos DAB 10 originating from Arnica montana and A. chamissonis subsp. foliosa. Compared to high performance liquid chromatographic analysis on reversed-phase columns, nearly the same separation of these active compounds may be obtained. Polar alcohols are eluted before esterified derivatives, and the sesquiterpene lactones, derived from 11โฃ,13-dihydrohelenalin, eluted before the corresponding compounds with an exomethylene group at C-11. Furthermore, the elution order is influenced by substitution at C-2 and C-6 of the skeleton.
