β¦ Synopsis
sulphan (technical) was obtained from Excel, Bangalore (India) Limited. Endosulphan I and II were separated from technical endosulphan (70 : 30) by column chromatography and purified by crystallization, and endosulphan sulphate, endosulphan ether, endosulphan diol and endosulphan lactone were prepared by methods described in the literature. The purity of all the metabolites was checked by GLC and found to be 99%. All solvents were degassed by simultaneous warming (gently) and evacuation for 15 min. Double distilled water was filtered through a Millipore assembly with filters of 0.45 m porosity, solvent compatible and degassed before use for HPLC.

## Abstract Ambroxol is a mucolytic agent used in the treatment of respiratory diseases. Herein, we report the synthesis of carbonβ14βlabeled ambroxol with the radioactive atom(s) either on the benzylic carbon or uniformly in the cyclohexyl ring with specific activities of 59 and 81βmCi/mmol, respe
