✦ Synopsis
A chelating polystyrene-divinylbenzene-based resin containing N-benzoylphenylhydroxylamine as the chelating group was synthesized and characterized through its water regain capacity (0.56 g g-') and stability towards acids, alkalis, heat and y-radiation. The effective pH for use of the resin was 1.0-7.0 for beryllium, 2.5 for aluminium and 6.5 for copper(H). Cobalt(H) was sorbed at pH > 5.5, whereas nickel(I1) and zinc were not sorbed. Separations of beryllium and aluminium from each other and from other ions and also from components of beryl and some synthetic alloys are possible.
