Sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy for the treatment of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is not necessary and generally should be limited to those patients with a core needle biopsy diagnosis of DCIS who are undergoing mastectomy. Used in this way, SLN biopsy will spare the majority of patients with oc
