## Abstract Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) both allow non‐invasive monitoring of cerebral cortical oxygenation responses to various stimuli. To compare these methods in elderly subjects and to determine the effect of age on cortical oxygenation re
