✦ Synopsis
A spectrophotometruz method for the determmatlon of micro amounts of d-pemcdlamme (PNCL) 1s described, based on the ondabon of the PNCL by Fe(III) m the presence of o-phenanthrolme, wth which the Fe(H) resulted forms a ferrom complex The latter etibts an absorption maximum at 510 nm wHh an apparent molar absorptlvlty of 101 x lo4 1 mol-' cm-' and a Sandell sensdivlty of 14 7 ng cm-* (for log &,/I= 10m3), both referred to the drug analysed The optnnum concentration range IS 2 O-15 0 pg ml-' of PNCL The regression equation 1s A = 7 46 X lo-'C -3 70 X lo-' mth a correlation coefficient of 0 9997 (n = 28) Statlstlcal analysis indicated that there was no slgmficant difference between the results obtained by the described method and those of the offlclal USP XXII method Keywords Spectrophotometry, Ferrom complex, Penlcdlanune, Pharmaceuticals
