β¦ Synopsis
Using the numeration system associated to the substitution 1 --* 12, 2 --, 31, 3 ---* i, we define a binary operation, which generates a semigroup on a subset of N. This semigroup represents the self-similar structure defined by an Iterated Function System (IFS) on the dynamical system associated to this substitution. (~) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. Much has been written on fractals, but their topological structure has rarely been investigated, in spite of the fact that most classical fractals were introduced by topologists. We propose an easy description of the topology of certain strictly self-similar sets which turns out to include also many
