✦ Synopsis

The self-incompatibility in some species of Trifolium, and the existence of natural stands of wild species closely related to them, provide an easy method of mass interspecific hybridization . The validity of this method has been proven by comparable data on crossability and behaviour of interspecific F 1 hybrids obtained manually . The use of this method in other plants, such as wheat is discussed and suggested .
