In a mixed assembly… … of bis-amide-functionalized dialkoxynaphthalene donor and naphthalenediimide acceptor, when there was a mismatch in the relative distance of the amide groups with respect to the two chromophores, self-sorting was observed. On the other hand if the two distances almost matched,
