A solution of bpp (0.040 g, 0.200 mmol) in acetonitrile (10 mL) was added to a solution of Cu 2 (maa) 4 •2 H 2 O (0.050 g, 0.100 mmol) in methanol (10 mL). The clear mixture was stirred for a few minutes and then allowed to evaporate at room temperature. Well-shaped blue needles of 1 appeared after several days. The crystalline product was filtered, washed with ethanol, and dried in air. Yield, 65 %.
