A metal particularly well-adapt ed to the seal requirements is a nickel-chromium alloy, namely NC19FeNb. So as to avoid marking nearby elements adjacent to the seal, it may be equipped with an anti-seizing coating made of graphite. The seal is preferably produced from a forge blank in which precautions have been taken to obtain the blank shape by observing a fibre orientation of the metal.
