β¦ Synopsis
A gradual decline in count rate is observed in liquid scintillation counting of labeled RNA in aqueous solution. This "progressive" quenching is probably caused by selective association of water to the RNA molecules.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
RNA
Labeled RNA was extracted by the method of Parish and Kirby (1) and dissolved in 0.1 M sodium acetate, pH 6, prior to use.
