✦ Synopsis

Selective isolation of microorganisms producing pullulanase and isoamylase was accomplished using a two plate detection assay which distinguished both activities and excluded microorganisms producing other extracellular amylases.

Over 115,000 colonies tested, 190 strains producing pullulanase and 57 strains producing isoamylase were isolated; extracellular activities of isolated strains were 0.2 to 4.2 and 0.5 to 2.1 nkat/ml of culture, respectively.
