✦ Synopsis
Potassium-dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 complex was used as a highly efficient carrier for the transport of palladium as PdCl 4
2Ϫ complex anion through a chloroform bulk liquid membrane. In the presence of thiocyanate ion as a suitable stripping agent in the receiving phase, the amount of palladium transported across the liquid membrane after 2.5 h is 99.2 Ϯ 1.1%. The selectivity of Pd 2ϩ transport from aqueous solutions containing other M n؉ cations such as Mg 2ϩ , Ca 2ϩ , Mn 2ϩ , Co 2ϩ , Ni 2ϩ , Cu 2ϩ , Zn 2ϩ , Pb 2ϩ , Cd 2ϩ , Hg 2ϩ , and Fe 3ϩ was investigated. In the presence of EDTA as a suitable masking agent in the source phase, none of the cations used interfered with palladium transport, even at a M n؉ /Pd 2؉ molar ratio of 10.
