Abstract4-aryl-1-( l-aryl-ethylidenamino)-1,3-dihydro-2-imidazolones (2) and 4-aryl-l-(l-aryl-ethylamino)-l,3-dihydro-2-imidazolones (3) were synthetized by controlled potential reduction of 3,7_diaryl-2H-imidazo[Z,l-b][1,3,4]oxadiazines (1) employing different Solvent-Support-Electrolyte (SSE) systems. Characterizations of these electrochemical products were performed by usual spectroscopic methods.

This process is a simple alternative route to the synthesis of N-substituted 2-imidazolones which have shown interesting applications in the pharmaceutical field.
