✦ Synopsis

Reactions of Ru"'L(H,O) (L = aminopolycarboxylate ligands viz. edta, pdta, hedtra) with dimethylsulfide (DMS) and dimetbylsulfoxide (DMSO) were studied by using spectrophotomettic, electrochemical and kinetic methods. [RU*~L(DMS)] complexes formed by the interaction of RumL(H20) and DMS undergo oxidation when exposed to air to yield DMSO and Ru'nL(H,O) back. Under identical condition [RU~L(DMSO)] complexes do not undergo any further oxidation to produce dimethyl sulfone. 0 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
