✦ Synopsis

The Confucius Institute for Scotland in the University of Edinburgh presents this beautiful bilingual Chinese/Scottish Collector's Edition of a selection of poems by Robert Burns.

The volume contains eleven well-known Burns poems in English, including 'I love my Jean', 'My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose' and 'John Anderson, My Jo', together with facing-page Chinese translations. The translations, from the 1920s, are by Su Manshu, Wu Fangji, and Liu Pu and finely capture the lyric quality of Burns's poems. Each poem is introduced by an illustration page of Chinese calligraphy by Mr Chi Zhang, MSC BA, Chinese Calligraphy/Brush Painting artist at the University of Edinburgh.
