✦ Synopsis

An integrated analyticalaexperimental study is conducted to investigate the use of high-strength concrete (8 000Β± 10 000 psi) in high-rise framed tube structural systems located in areas of high seismic risk. Results indicate that displacement demands from recorded strong ground motions are less than that which can be supplied by critical beam-to-column joints in the designed structure. Furthermore, the structural system offers high lateral stiffness, high redundancy and high energy dissipation through well-distributed plastic hinging in the spandrel girders.

This paper presents an impregnation technique based on fluorescent ethanol that makes it possible to do plane section and thin section analysis on concretes of very low w/b-ratios. The technique is called Fluorescent Liquid Replacement technique (FLR) and is based on a principle where the pore water

Ah&met-Welded and unwelded specimens of an air-melted laminar composite steel armor were tested for degradation of strength from ballistic impact. Specimens were impacted with cal. 0.30 AP and ball projectiles at various velocities and O-degree obliquity. During impact, specimens were tensile loaded
