Kemp's triacid is studied as an emulsion-stabilizing agent by taking advantage of its conformation with three carboxyl groups triaxially oriented. Its surface active nature is investigated through interfacial tension measurements and electrokinetic studies on emulsions, with and without the acid. \(
Changes that occur in the interfacial tension of hydrocarbon oils floated on dilute aqueous solutions of some sulfonamides and tetracyclines and irradiated with UV light were measured. Photodecomposition products in the oil and aqueous lyers were identified, and reaction mechanisms are proposed. Ke
