This is an interesting little book which illustrates a number of novel techniques and their applications in acoustics. It is somewhat difficult to see to whom the book is directed. While the first three chapters treat interference and diffraction of sound waves in a very elementary fashion, the sixth chapter includes complicated circuits for an electronic organ and the seventh discusses autocorrelation processes.

The fourth and fifth chapters look at the problems of synthesising speech and the final chapter includes acoustic holography and may be of use to someone interested in these subjects. The value of the book is diminished by the fact that it does not contain a single reference. 309
