✦ Synopsis


Donor-acceptor polyenes that combine an electron-donating tetrathiafulvalene (TrF) unit with a barbituric or thiobarbituric acid have been prepared for the first time and characterized as nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores. The electrochemical and thermal properties of these derivatives are also reported.
