## Abstract During early development, the neurogenic genes of __Drosophila melanogaster__ are involved in the control of cell fates in the neurectoderm; __almondex__ (__amx__) belongs to this category of genes. We have identified the __amx__ locus and rescued the __amx__ embryonic neurogenic phenot
