The compression factors Z of (methane + nitrogen) of various compositions were measured using a direct method in the temperature range 308.15 K to 333.15 K and at pressures up to 12.0 MPa. Unlike-interaction second virial coefficients were calculated from the data and compared with previous experime

. A compressionrdecompression crd method was used to obtain experimental vapour-phase ลฝ . p , ,T data for six mixtures of acetonitrile in n-butane for temperatures from 373.13 K to 433.11 K at 20 K intervals, and at pressures from 200 kPa to 1600 kPa. Density determination of the gas phase by the crd method does not require knowledge of the mass of the compounds. The compression factors, the mixture second and third virial coefficients, and the ลฝ . interaction second and third virial coefficients of CH CN q n-C H were determined. The 3 4 1 0 compression factors are considered accurate to within .0.05 per cent, and the mixture 3 . y1 second virial coefficients to .3 cm mol . Prediction methods for the estimation of cross second virial coefficients were also examined. แฎ 1998 Academic Press Limited KEYWORDS: virial coefficients; compression factor; acetonitrile แn-butane mixtures; compressionrdecompression method 3 4 1 0 the classification scheme of Van Konynenburg and Scott. ลฝ5.
