Current operation of seawater and brackish water desalting plants is reported and analyzed regarding operating problems and costs. Different design concepts for brackish water plants for general water supply and drinking water quality improvement are discussed. A general economic analysis of brackish and seawater plants based on near-term and advanced technology is presented.
