## Abstract Aquatic hyphomycetes colonizing the submerged chirpine (__pinus roxburghii__ SARG.) needle litter in a high altitude, Kumaun Himalayan stream were studied. 15 species belonging to different genera of aquatic Hyphomycetes have been recognized as the colonizers of chirpine needle litter.

The frequency of occurrence itnd sea:iunel periodicity of aquatic hyphornycetes in R temperate freshwater stream of Central Hinidaya were s t l i d i d The number of itquittic hyphoinycetes species was found to very inversely wit,h temperature ( v z -0.499; not significant,), which explained 25 :& of the wriability. There were two maxiina, one in spring and the other in autumn. On the basis of their occurrence, the species observed have been cat,egorised into three groups. Constant species were Cnnipylosporn chnetoclndirc, Flngello.spora penicilloides, Lenioimiern npu,atica arid Tetrucladium marchal iu nunt.
