Static sealing

Yokohama's rubber plates, called the Dynamic Seal line, are said to provide flexible, durable sealing for the joints between concrete casings and thereby prevent leakage.

Yokohama also markets the Waterproof Plate with Steel Edge, a line of sealing products especially for concrete casings that are subject to high water pressure, and the Hama Ace Joint, which features especially good flexibility.

Yokohama supplied Dynamic seal plates in April 1994 for drainage conduits at the newly expanded Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) on Tokyo Bay. Contractors were said to respond enthusiastically to the performance of the plates, which encouraged Yokohama to introduced them nationwide.

Japanese demand for waterproofing and sealing products for underground concrete casing is growing rapidly as the government steps up spending on public works projects to stimulate the economy. Yokohama posted a 10% sales increase in that products sector in 1993, and management expects the Dynamic seal line to help boost sales 20% this year.
