✦ Synopsis
The electron loss of relativistic projectiles colliding with neutral atomic targets are studied within the framework of the first order perturbation approach. In ultrarelativistic collisions screening effects are shown to be very important for the loss cross sections even for collisions with light atomic targets.

A crystal spectrometer has been reconditioned to study highly charged ion-atom collision processes. A self-written LabVIEW based program has been used for stepper motor control and data acquisition. The satellite structures of Ka X-rays of aluminum under 3-12 keV electron impact as well as 40 MeV C
