โฆ Synopsis
Abstr~t--Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) measurements are non-destructive and can provide useful information on the nature of the traps, which is cardinal to the understanding of the Thermally Stimulated Luminescence process. Besides, these non-destructive measurements can also serve as a dating method in tandem to the TSL method of dating. This review aims to provide a discussion of the following:
(i) A brief introduction to the basics of the ESR spectroscopy; (ii) a checklist of the ESR measurements needed for a ESR-TSL correlation; (iii) a selected literature survey of ESR based information on TSL traps in various phosphors and minerals; (iv) an introduction to the ESR dating technique with some case studies; and (v) a discussion on the future areas of research in ESR vis-a-vis TSL.
