This paper reports a study on the vibration and noise of helical gears. We measured the axial displacement in static working, changing the facewidth. This was found to be closely related with the overlap ratio. The main factors of vibration and noise depend on the moment change of the load center. We produced a hard type urethane model different in web configuration, and measured the fluctuation in each axis direction, and studied the effect which web configuration gave to clashing of gears.
