I C 1-3E' I' E N. combines those required for Greenwich and Palermo and proposed by Professor Airy Astron. Royal and M. Cacciatore Astron. Royal to be observed from the present time to the 31st of Dec. 1837.

kr the suggestion only reached me the other day there is no time for selecting stars exactly suited for other observatories, yet by making the circumstance public some Astro-a inore satisfactory and general determination of this important element will be obtained.

And I further take the liberty of proposing that all stars whose altitude will allow of i t , be observed occasionally by Reflexion as well as direct vision, and that the index error arising therefrom be compared with others at an equal altitude to the North of their zeniths.
