β¦ Synopsis
Scene examination and investigation
The Summer Conference of the Forensic Science Society, arranged primarily for younger members but enjoyed by a wide spectrum of ages, took place on 22/23 July 1988 at the College of Ripon and York St John, York. The social activities of the Friday evening were followed on the Saturday by a full session of papers. The subject of the conference was introduced by Dr WJ Rodger, the immediate Past President of the Society, who said that a recent report on technical support for the police of England and Wales had highlighted the role of scenes-of-crime officers. Commenting on the need for expertise at scenes of crime, Dr Rodger mentioned the Society's proposed Diploma in Scenes-of-Crime Examination and stressed the need for resources to be put into scenes investigations. This report has been prepared by Mr Craig Stainthorp.
