Abstract
This paper presents a formally exact modeโmatching analysis of scattering by a sideโrounded rectangular iris in rectangular waveguides. The complete set of modes in a rectangular waveguide with rounded sides is used in the modeโmatching formulation for the junction between a small sideโrounded rectangular waveguide and a large rectangular waveguide, based on the plane wave series expansion of Bessel function. Numerical results for the scattering parameters of a rectangular waveguide loaded with a sideโrounded rectangular iris are presented and compared with measurements.
