Tips for scanning tunneling microscopy prepared from carbon composite materials were used for nanoscale characterization of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) surfaces, both unmodified and modified with adsorbed monolayers of polyoxometalate. A series of different types of carbon (graphite pe
