✦ Synopsis
Sc(OTf) 3 is a new type of a Lewis acid that is different from using a small amount of Sc(OTf) 3 in both organic and aqueous solvents. In addition, Sc(OTf) 3 can be recovered typical Lewis acids such as AlCl 3 , BF 3 , SnCl 4 , etc. While most Lewis acids are decomposed or deactivated in the presence after reactions are completed and can be reused. While lanthanide triflates [Ln(OTf) 3 ] have similar properties, the of water, Sc(OTf) 3 is stable and works as a Lewis acid in water solutions. Many nitrogen-containing compounds such catalytic activity of Sc(OTf) 3 is higher than that of Ln(OTf) 3 in several cases. as imines and hydrazones are also successfully activated by Sc(OTf) 3 was readily prepared from scandium oxide (Sc 2 O 3 ) MICROREVIEWS: This feature introduces the readers to the authors' research through a concise overview of the selected topic. Reference to important work from others in the field is included.

Numerous Lewis acids are known that effectively catalyze Friedel-Crafts and related reactions, however a shortcoming of most reagents is associated with quenching the reaction; catalysts cannot be reused, causing problems with waste disposal. Like many rare earth salts, copper(II) triflate has the a
