โœฆ Synopsis

S candinavia is to host a major fuel cell vehicle demonstration project, with the aim of advancing the commercialization of hydrogen for transport in Scandinavia, as well as connecting the region with initiatives in neighboring Germany. The H2MOVES project will bring 17 of state-of-the-art FCVs from Daimler and Fiat to Oslo, with H2 Logic setting up a large-scale hydrogen refueling station in the Norwegian capital.

The project has a budget of E19.5 million (US$25m), financed by company contributions as well as European and national funding from Norway and Denmark.

The vehicle fleet will comprise 10 Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-CELL cars from Daimler, two Alfa Romeo MiTo fuel cell vehicles from Centro Ricerche Fiat in Italy, and five electric city cars with fuel cell range extension from Danish-based H2 Logic. The vehicles will be provided in 2011 for daily operation in Oslo, and on specific tours in southern Norway and elsewhere in Scandinavia.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo Fuel Cell car uses a Nuvera PEM fuel cell stack combined with a Li-ion traction battery pack to supply power to the electric motor. The car has a range of 450 km (280 miles), thanks to 700 bar (10 000 psi) hydrogen tanks.
