Questo apologo allegro e scanzonato ha per protagonista la stravagante figura di una santa munita, secondo la tradizione, di un mazzetto di fulmini: santa Barbara. Un bel giorno la sua statua viene fatta trasportare dal Reconcavo a Bahia per una esposizione d'arte sacra. Ma già durante il breve viaggio, su un peschereccio, la statua comincia a dar segni di irrequietezza: per rimettere a posto alcune situazioni che non le vanno a genio, al momento dell'attracco prende vita e, assunto l'aspetto di Yansà, signora dell'uragano e della guerra, se ne va in giro per le strade, seminando panico e raccogliendo reverenti omaggi. Siamo negli anni della dittatura militare, e la sparizione della statua getta nello scompiglio la polizia e la stampa.
